Who we are

A House of Prayer in the Heart of London

We are a house of prayer in the heart of London, sharing the beauty of the Catholic Faith and serving those in need.

Our Mission

Centred on the Eucharist

Everything that we do is the fruit of our time spent with Jesus. As Catholics, we believe that in the Holy Mass, the bread and wine become the real body and blood of Christ - the Eucharist.

A place to encounter truth

We hold to the teachings of the Catholic Church, passed down to us from Jesus and the first Christians. We believe that the wisdom of the Church can help us to live meaningful and truly happy lives today.

Serving those in need

Open House is our service to the homeless people of central London. As central London has one of the highest rates of homelessness in the UK, the gospel compels us to help these people in any way that we can.

Bringing people to prayer

We all need to create space to listen for the voice of God in our lives, only then we will be able to hear where He is calling us.

Mission beyond the walls

We live out the Great Commission (MT 28:16-20) by stepping out and bringing the Gospel to those outside our community.

Our History

The St Patrick’s Church that we know today was consecrated on the 29th of September, 1792 and was likely one of the first Catholic parishes established after practising Catholicism was made legal again in England.

Our Patron Saints

The patron saints of our parish are depicted in a set of magnificent, new, stained-glass windows which were designed by artist Vivienne Haig. These six saints relate to the history, spirituality and mission of our church and are patrons of the work carried out here today.

Meet them
Our team

Everything we do here is the work of people who love this place and love the mission it serves. From the parish office to Open House, here are some of the faces you will meet at St Patrick's.

Fr Alexander Sherbrooke

Parish Priest

I have been the parish priest of St Patrick’s, Soho Square for twenty years and I love being parish priest here because it’s a place where the gospel is very raw. The challenges facing the Church and the proclamation of the gospel in a place like this are very much in your face. Our church is a place of healing, a place of mercy, from which we reach out to many of our brothers and sisters.

Tracy

Parish Operations Manager

I have been the Parish PA at St Patrick’s for over 10 years. I enjoy my work very much as I find that I am in a unique position to organise our many outreach programmes which helps a lot of vulnerable people whilst also facilitating the smooth running of the parish office - so no two days are ever the same!

Laurence

Evangelisation Associate

I am a real people person, which is probably due in no small part to my being of New Zealand extraction. Engaging with parishioners and the public is an integral part of my role at St Patrick's and I encounter some amazing people on a daily basis. There is so much variety in my job and I am truly blessed to be able to do it in such a spiritual setting.

Magdalene Lee

Director of Mission

My job is to oversee and develop faith formation and pathways at the parish—developing programmes, events, ministries, and volunteering. I love how central and dynamic this parish is—a true spiritual home and hub for those coming and going. We’re here to minister to London as it truly is—there’s something for everyone!

We need you

Our church is powered by people who give generously of their gifts and time. If you are passionate about our mission then we would love you to join our team.

Build our mission

St Patrick's is powered by people who give generously of what they have. Every gift, large or small, helps us feed the hungry, open our doors in prayer and reach the many in Soho who do not yet know Jesus. Will you help us build our mission?
