Evangelisation can and should happen wherever there is a baptised Christian - over coffee, in our offices and homes, as much as in our parishes and RCIA programmes - but each conversation calls for a different kind of clarity, confidence, and creativity, depending on who is in front of us.

On 29 May, the Guild of Our Lady of Ransom welcomes Dr Caitlin West (lecturer, speaker, catechist, and creator of the popular podcast series Crash Course Catholicism) for the Marian Lecture 2026, a practical follow-on to Mgr James Shea's Evangelising Post-Christian Britain in 2024.

The tools of effective evangelisation today are not speaking the loudest, winning the argument, or proving a point, but learning how to communicate the truth of the faith in a way that connects. Rooted in the call to "give a reason for the hope within us" (1 Peter 3:15), this lecture will show how to speak about the faith so that it truly resonates.

Drawing on her experience of making the Catechism accessible for a new generation, Dr West will offer a practical toolkit for communicating the faith well - grounded in prayer and the sacraments, and lived out in everyday life.
